As a parent or carer, you are an important part of our school community. We offer a range of services to support you and your family.
Parents and Citizens’ Association (P&C)
Our Parents and Citizens’ Association (P&C) is made up of parents and carers, teachers and community members. The P&C meets regularly to contribute to decision-making, developing policies and management plans as well as fundraising.

Interpreting and translations
We will help you communicate with our school. If you’d like an interpreter for a school meeting, let us know and we will arrange one, if available.
If you don’t speak or understand English well and want to contact us, call TIS National on 131 450 and ask for an interpreter in your language. The operator will call the school and get an interpreter to help. This service is free.
For more information, listen in your language.
Visit the department’s translated documents section for important information that’s relevant for your child’s education in many languages.
The P&C Association generally meets on the first Thursday of the month at 7pm in the Library. Meetings usually finish by 8.30pm. Parents, carers and other interested community members are invited to participate in discussions ranging from the future direction of the school to student welfare and resources. The meeting is run as a forum and is lead by the P&C Committee. It is also attended by the Principal and/or Deputy Principal.
The 2023/2024 elected P&C Committee members are:
- Helen Gounaris (President)
- Jackie Blum (Vice President 1)
- Vacant (Vice President 2)
- Jane Gregs (Treasurer)
- Aizzell Manuyag (Secretary)
Throughout the year the P&C holds various fundraising events to provide the means to purchase additional equipment or improve facilities for our students. There are many opportunities to get involved and support the fundraising efforts of the P&C and you do not need to be a member to do so! For example, attending school discos, providing donations for raffle prizes and cake stalls or volunteering to sell raffle tickets or at stalls! By taking an active role in the school community, parents and carers can make a difference to their child's education and the school environment.
In recent years, funds raised have been allocated towards robotic kits, literacy and numeracy resources, student lap top computers, interactive whiteboards, new library shelving and air-conditioning and artificial turf. Each year, the principal presents the P&C with the school priority areas in need of additional funding, and this is discussed and voted on at a meeting by the P&C members. Membership is open to everyone by way of a $2 annual fee.
The P&C also runs the uniform shop with the assistance of a coordinator – therefore by making your uniform purchases at the shop, you are also contributing to funds raised by the P&C! The uniform shop is open Tuesdays and Fridays from 8.45am until 9.15am or the order form can be dropped into the school office.
In 2009 the P&C formed a policy to financially assist students who represent the school at Regional or State level of competition in Sport and the Creative and Performing Arts. In 2012, the P&C established an equity fund to assist disadvantaged students.
A class parent network exists to promote a stronger sense of community and to facilitate communication between the school/teachers and P&C.
P&C meeting agendas and related minutes can be found on the Skoolbag App, along the Constitution and accompanying Rules of the MJPS P&C.
