The Learning Pit

The Learning Pit (Learning Challenge) is used around the world to promote challenge, dialogue and a growth mindset. It was created by James Nottingham. At MJPS we have designed a Learning ‘Sand’ Pit because we are located close to Maroubra Beach making it relative to our learners. The Learning Pit analogy helps our learners understand that they can take control of their own learning, even when it is hard and challenging. The Learning Pit can help learners look at their learning as an opportunity to keep growing. At MJPS we encourage learners to be put in ‘I’m stuck’ situations to develop their learner capacity and use their MJPS Learning Powers to find ways to develop their learning mindset.
