What is high potential and gifted education?

High potential and gifted education (HPGE) is how our school supports students with advanced learning needs.

We do this through:

effective teaching strategies like enrichment, extension and acceleration

tailored support during lessons that stretch, challenge and inspire

access to a wide range of opportunities both within and beyond our school.

Our teachers provide differentiated tasks that adjust pace, complexity and higher-order thinking. They assessment students in their class in a formative way, to monitor growth and adapt learning. They use flexible groupings according to students' needs in the moment.

Across our school

We cater to the various needs of our students by offering programs such as debating, creative writing groups, sport squads and student leadership opportunities like Learning Mates or Book Spies.

Across NSW

We provide opportunities for our students to participate in statewide programs and competitions such as The Premier's Spelling Bee, The Premier's Sporting Challenge, The Premier's Reading Challenge, Maths Olympiad, Game Changer, representative sport teams, and the Wakakirri Story-Dance Festival.
